I'm closing this bug as WONTFIX, and I've just opened bug #61582 to replace it.
Meta should have provided this feedback to the app. If James had gotten a
message like "glBitmap fell back to software because fog was enabled", a lot of
his time would have been saved tracking this issue down. He really shouldn't
have had to trace into _mesa_meta_Bitmap to figure this out. We've added some
support for messages like this, and we just need to add more.
