As I understand using proximity cards in conjunction with a single sign on product, they are supposed to work exactly as you outlined. You should be able to walk away and resume your session on a different device wherever you left off. I know that I have seen demo's that do that, but they were not in Meditech, but were using notepad or something like that. Patients or visitor cannot log on to the PC since they will not have a badge. This is good two factor authentication. One of my projects planned for next year will be at least a pilot study of SSO with proximity or biometric devices. My best guess is that a full implementation of this will be at least $100 per user and possibly up to $250 so it is not a cheap project. I will know more when I get a chance to really research this. Maybe I will do a MUSE presentation on it next year.
