We have a test patient in live called TEST,DUMMY. He is registered in a
location like HR that is not included in stats. We rarely use him, but
if we do anything that causes charges, we let Financial people know, so
that they can adjust accordingly.

I hope this helps.

Subject: RE: [MEDITECH-L] Dummy Patients

There was a lively discussion on this topic on the Meditech-L about a
year ago. The opinions were about evenly split between those who said
"No, Never!" and those who said, "Of course we use test patients in
Live". I am in the latter category. No matter how much testing you do
in Test, you cannot guarantee that the setup is correct in Live until
you test it. Better to test it on a dummy patient than a real one....

        Subject: [MEDITECH-L] Dummy

        Hello,

Does anyone have a "dummy" patient in LIVE.
We would like to use some for testing new procedures in LIVE
and also for Quality assurance specimens etc.

        How would you register them?
What account type etc. etc. would you use so it would not
affect statistics
that we need to submit to government (Canada)

        Thanks
