For Lab, we have a separate facility that we can use in LIVE. This facility doesn't report or charge, so it's ideal for testing in LIVE. I don't know if this would work for other module, but it sure helps us in Lab.
We've found many times that a particular setup may work fine in TEST and behave differently in LIVE. The trouble with not having test patients in LIVE is that by default your first real patient is your test patient.
