My IMO self-evidently valid comment seems to have touched off a firestorm amid the Damp Squib contingent on the list. No doubt they are all praying to the Virgin as we speak. I do not think imitation of Castro's armed insurgency is of any relevance to the current situation in the US--indeed, rather a long history of ultraleft futility is tied to the whole notion, as witness the debacles of the Progressive Labor Party and the so-called Revolutionary Youth Movement.
The question arises, however, of just how much of importance can be discussed on any online list. I would hate to see the left equivalent of all the pathetic rightwing mutual masturbation sodalities that proliferate on 4chan and the Dark Web. But nobody living under Biden's FBI should feel safe in a political approach that eschews all forms of clandestinity as a matter of principle. I confess that I even welcome the campaign against so-called "right-wing terrorists" that is being bruited by the FBI and the Biden administration currently. But at the very least there is the possibility that when the right reclaim congress triumphantly in 2022 as they probably will, any new "antiterrorist" laws or police entities could be turned against even the bourgeois-speakingly "innocent" as well as the "guilty." This may not be an all-important issue, but it is nonetheless an important one. What then, Professor Hiebert? Whose names will you be naming then? I disagree with Comrade Kulp on many things, but the relevance of insurrection to any historically accurate discussion of revolution is beyond discussion--the more so when we understand that insurrection and revolution are by no means synonymous but have always been linked historically.
