If we are talking about a *company*, then it's of course obvious to have contact information on the company website - a company without such information looks "shady", and for example I'll be afraid to buy anything from such a company. But there are domains dedicated eg. to specific open-source software, various activism (or artistic) projects etc. etc., with nothing more than a bunch of volunteers standing behind such a website. It's hard to expect a company-style contact information in that case. For activist groups, putting up such information on a website can even be dangerous to them, as such groups often have a lot of opponents, many of which won't refrain from using violence. There are also private domains (like mine), owned just by individual persons. A random individual certainly wouldn't want to publish their street address and phone number on the Internet for everyone. I think we should avoid "company bias" when thinking about websites, that is, we shouldn't assume that every website is a company website. Which many people seem to assume... -- Regards, Jaroslaw Rafa r...@rafa.eu.org -- "In a million years, when kids go to school, they're gonna know: once there was a Hushpuppy, and she lived with her daddy in the Bathtub." _______________________________________________ mailop mailing list mailop@mailop.org https://list.mailop.org/listinfo/mailop
