There is [OT] -> Off topic tag on this discussion. Why bother reading it when it is clearly marked? About GPL vs BSDL debate. It is going very well, every one involved is showing great respect for others. There are more than 5 people debating in that thread. What is bothering you? We need candid and respectful debate when we have disagreements. There are different things you can do. 1. Just ignore the whole thread. 2. Read up on topics discussed. 3. Ask if you don't get any points. > There is a opinion that FSF is advocating Free Software "Communism" ( or > marxism , leninism , socialism ) and only a deep analysis will prove that > that it is not the case. > > Some believe "Crowd is right" , i think "Crowd will make something right ". > So , it is hard > to change this perception. When we convince ten people about the inner > meaning of GNU > and other stuff , Hundreds are at the gate with other views. That is the beauty, you can have your own views. You don't have to panic when people disagree with you. > I think discussion about Technical stuff do not produce these kind of > ambiguity. Let us make the mission of the group as "ILUG ( Programming / > Systems group ) and we do discuss licensing and social issues as well". ( Now > it is "License to Kill" and the youngsters whom i have interacted do not have > a clue about why this fuss about > freedom , licensing , Stallman ( Slowly and steadly , i feel that he is an > "idiot" who > failed to live a life. ) etc) Why bother to read or reply when such topics are replied? Do others tell you to stop talking about things you are interested in? > The "moral upmanship game " which Stallman "believers" advocate do not have > economic incentives. So , it will become a minority movement which will crib > about > all the evils happening in the software world. You are talking bullshit. On the contrary, Stallman "believers" created a complete operating system, instead of cribbing about what is wrong with proprietary software. > Now, this group has got a social dimension . It helps die hard believers of > stallmanism > ( a new meme ! ) to assemble and socialize. What is wrong with that? Nobody is stopping you from joining the party. Start a thread on things you like to discuss. There can be many parallel threads. Every one is Free to chose what thread to read, reply or ignore. > I like this because , it shows the diversity of the world. if some in the > group does not do it , someelse will chip in to the same. Good point. > P.S :- We get new members because L is confused as Linux !. :) -- പ്രവീണ് അരിമ്പ്രത്തൊടിയില് You have to keep reminding your government that you don't get your rights from them; you give them permission to rule, only so long as they follow the rules: laws and constitution. _______________________________________________ Indian Libre User Group Cochin Mailing List http://www.ilug-cochin.org/mailing-list/ http://mail.ilug-cochin.org/mailman/listinfo/mailinglist_ilug-cochin.org #[email protected]
