If a considerable no. of people write to Dell telling that they are
opting for a differrent just because of the compulsory OS inclusion
they will change. It has happened many times. If you are part of the
OpenSBD-misc list one of the things that happens there is users being
told that a driver cannot be written because the documentation of such
and such hardware is not released to the public. The users take up the
issue and get the email of concerned people and mass mail them asking
to release documentation. Many of the Documentation for modern
hardware was released in that way. The details are all available on
the internet mailinglist archives. Of course they don't sign NDA with
the vendors like Linux Developers so the documentation is free for
all.

Instead of trying to teach eacho other the differences and superiority
of one Open Source Licence over the other if we can get a few Dell
email address and mass mail them and post things on our blogs and
twitter/what ever etc we can expect some change. What Dell is doing is
business if they find they lose bugs because of their policy they will
change. Even if they don't some other competitor will try to take
advantage of this issue.

Cahnging the engine is difficult. Changing the OS is as simple as
'fdisk'. They can do it with out any probs.
