The only other view that seems usable is List View. I tried it today, though, when I was copying 36 files from one folder to another. Despite VO telling me I was two levels deep into a folder, I ended up pasting those files into the top-level folder and had to go erase them all from there, then paste in Column View. Still, given what Apple said, it seems a clearing of the preferences won't help, unfortunately. At least I read your message before I tried it. Thanks.
