Don't forget about the excellent Key Remap 4 Macbook utility. This lets you do 
all sorts of things, such as make the right command key a control key, or 
assign shift with right command to control, or the caps lock key to both vo 
keys, and so on. It also can emulate a num pad, giving you your commander back. 
I believe applevis.com has instructions for this, and I know plenty of people 
on this list use the program if you get stuck.
