My favorite solution is to use track pad commander and make selections or press buttons with a one finger double tap. Pressing VO + space one key at a time and releasing them at the same time works, but it is awkward and slower.
I have the Apple wireless keyboard with my Mac Mini. Are there any keyboards which don't have that issue with the VO+space command?
