Marsha, who is your mail provider? I have a gmail acount as well, and

If your accounts support imap use it. You can use imap from as many devices
as you want and they will all stay in sync. If you use pop you are
downloading your messages to each device and you may or may not be deleting
them on the server dependent on the way each mail client is configured. As
for the certificate issue read the details of the certificate and see if the
certificate is valid. It may be a certificate for the wrong domain or it
may have expired. Let us know more about the certificate trouble and we may
be able to help.

website I think it was that I found the info, and it keeps asking me to
verify the certificate and telling me it doesn't recognize the acount
whenever I try to log on, and when I tell it to connect anyway, it won't
download my messages. However, when I connect it under imap, it downloads
months worth of mail that I've already read, and won't delete them, so I'm
really frustrated hear, and really don't want to keep having to migrate
back and forth between my pc and my mac just to check my messages.
