Don't know if this will help as I have the 13" mbp.  Mine is straight above the 
esc. key.  I have enough vision to see it, but don't think I could feel it.  
Hope it helps.  You could open up garageband, and set it to internal mic, and 
track muting turned off and tap around and see if you hear anything if this 
doesn't help.
