Nothing makes the iPad essential to blind users, but it is a viable alternative. Many say they like the situation of having all the apps and functions on one device. that works fine until the phone rings, and many times whatever ap you were working with is termainatted, and will need to be restarted after hanging up the call.

Hi folks.
Can some one here tell me something about what makes the iPad
essential for blind users?
I mean, we don't need to see the larger screen wich can be great for
those partially sighted.
So therefor we can get the same out of the iPhone or iPod Touch.
I don't know if I'm right or wrong in this, but I'd like to see a
constructive little discussion about why we blind should have an iPad
- or not?iThanks so much / nstead of something else?

Life is a challenge, and meeting the challenge is my life. Not everyone likes
working in the limited space presented by the iPhone screen. The iPad has a
better sounding speaker.

I like the larger real estate, and I use iPad with the Zaggmate, which is an
aluminum case in which the iPad stores and includes a built-in bluetooth
keyboard. It only adds .25 inch to the thickness of the iPad and about 7
ounces to the weight.

I don't know that there is anything that makes the iPad better than an iPod
touch or an iPhone, with the exception of the iPhone's ability to make phone
calls. for the user who likes phone service on Sprint, T-Mobile or other
carriers, iPod and iPad are alternative additions to an arsenal of portalbe
electronics. iPad is a better choice for the family/couple that shares a
device, particularly if one partner/member is sighted and would enjoy the
larger image.

Just like there are Fords, Chevies, and BMW's, there are different choices
among iDevices. What matters is what you choose to use to get from here to
there.
