Hi. I got to play with an iPhone briefly and have ben able to compare that experience with my iPad.
I find navigating the screen to be much easier with the extra space. I always felt like my fingers were cramped on the iPhone screen. You can type much more easily on the iPad too, in portrait mode. Yes, you can use a bluetooth keyboard with either the iPhone or the iPad, but for jotting down stuff, I find it easier to use the iPad because of the larger on-screen keyboard in landscape mode. I found it much easier visualizing how an app or page looked by being able to run my fingers around the larger screen on the iPad than I did with the iPhone. You can swipe, sure, but it's easier for me initially to drag my finger around the screen and feel/hear what's where. I cannot say that one is more essential than the other. I know of some blind people who use their iPod Touches with a bluetooth keyboard as a notetaker and do just fine. Others use iPads or iPhones. It really is based on what you feel is essential for you. I don't feel there's one answer that's going to fit all blind people here.
