Hi. Do you connect the HDMI cable directly to your tv or does the sound come through a receiver? I have a surround receiver which cut off the sound while using digital sound inputs and outputs. I don't know why. If you only connect the apple tv directly to your tv, it might be because the cable is pretty long.
