Yeah, flying when the weather is crappy is not particularly pleasant. My flights last weekend should have been 5 and a half hours including one lay-over, but the Calgary had a snow storm. I got to have three lay-overs and over 18 hours instead. Needless to say, I was a little tuckered for my first day of training.

If you have everything backed up, you could do a clean install and run it as a test computer for a couple of hours without bringing any software or data from the backup. if the fans continue to be a problem, then we know that it has nothing to do with your specific installation or data, and more to do with some sort of glitch with Catalina and your hardware.
