Now that I think about it, I think it was after we put an ssd in to it that the fan kicked in to life.
Interesting though the ssd were purchased through a mac support agent so I would have thought been ok. Anyway not my issue now as don’t work for that company / organisation. Although I know I’ve still got the admin usernames and passwords for the image they are currently running on it / them 15 iMacs. Hi, When this happened on iMacs, it was usually due to a non-Apple HD being installed after an HD failure. The non-Apple HD didn't interface properly with the sensors, and thus it turned the fans on just for fun. I don't recommend doing that in this situation as it is not a mis-reading of sensors kind of thing. If you turn down the fans and the machine is getting hot, you could cause damage to the internal components. Later...
