I’ve read Simon’s comments and everyone else and I need to say that I am 
hopelessly confused.  Let me restate the situation for those who joined 
late.  


1.  a few years ago, I subscribed to a mailing list called Reapers Without 
Peepers.  It was hosted by a hosting service called bluegrasspals.com.  So, 
the message e-mail address was r...@bluegrasspals.com.  At least I think 
that’s it.  I subscribed to this list using kevj...@me.com.  I did this 
because I wanted my e-mail from this list to be in a general mailbox apart 
from my  gmail mailbox that I use for business and general purpose 
correspondence.  


2.  A few months back, this mailing list migrated from bluegrasspals.com to 
groups.io.  So, now the mailing address was r...@groups.io.  I decided to 
unsubscribe my me.com address and resubscribe to Reapers Without Peepers at 
the Groups.io site using my iCloud.com address.  This had been created when 
me.com essentially “went away.”    As a side note, I should say that my 
me.com address continues to function in a few rare cases where it appears 
to be grandfathered, somehow.  But in the main, If accidentally send from 
me.com, nobody sees what I send.  


3.  I soon discovered that, for reasons I never quite understood, I could 
post to r...@groups.io using the iCloud.com address and the e-mail would 
post.  However, and this is the critical part, whenever anyone posted to 
the list and I replied to that post, my default sender address would not, 
repeat NOT be iCloud.com.  It would be me.com.  The only solution would be 
to always be aware that all outgoing replies, as distinct from original 
posts, would be sent via me.com, not iCloud.com.  In such a case, it would 
be essential to make sure act I had changed the sending e-mail address to 
iCloud from me.  


To the best of my knowledge, I have promoted my iCloud.com address to be 
the primary address associated with my iPhone.  I have removed me.com such 
that it can’t be used to reach me on FaceTime or on my devices, so far as I 
know.  However, I can’t remove it from the list of outgoing e-mail 
addresses available in Mac Mail, nor can I remove it from my iPhone because 
it’s an Apple ID.  When I turn that off on my iPhone 7, my entire iCloud 
mailbox disappears from my iPhone.  


I can post an original message to RWP from iCloud.com and it will show up.  
But every time I reply to a post, I have to be very careful to change the 
sender address from me.com to iCloud.com and I need to add that’s really 
ticking me off, to put it politely!  If it is absolutely impossible to 
eliminate the need to make this extra step when sending to this particular 
mailing list, I guess I’ll just have to deal with it.  I have years of 
correspondence wit this list as either me.com or iCloud.com.  That 
correspondence is all in my iCloud inbox.  I don’t want to unsubscribe and 
resubscribe with my Gmail address because that would effect the purpose of 
leaving my RWP e-mail in my iCloud mailbox going forward.  


Tim has graciously agreed to meet with me tomorrow.  I’m hoping he has Team 
Viewer or some other means of remoting  into my Mac mini.  I suppose I 
could dial into iCloud using my DAW, a Windows 10 machine with Team Viewer, 
if that would be of any help.  I don’t have Team Viewer or any other 
similar software on my Mac mini and I guess we’ll have to talk about that.  
I think it would be best if he could see my iCloud screens to have the 
greatest possible appreciation of my exact situation with e-mail addresses, 
aliases, and the like.  


I think I’ve explained everything of consequence.  


Is there anyway to expunge me.com from the list of outgoing e-mail 
addresses in Mac Mail?  There is no me.com account in either preferences or 
internet accounts.  Is there a server I should hose?  


I look forward to any available resolution.
