All you have to do is simply quit iTUnes in most cases and just restart it. I 
find where the issue shows itself is when you accidentally hold the option key 
down while iTunes is loading. This allows you to select an alternate iTunes 
library. WHenever iTunes comes up and asks me for a library, I just quit and 
relaunch iTunes and all is well.
