Tim

To clarify, the failing keyboard was the externally connected USB QWERTY
keyboard tot he Mac, not the internal on screen iPhone keyboard. I think I
know what the problem is.

For most of my Mac life, I was able to connect my iPhone to a USB port on my
USB keyboard. Apparently, the iPhone 7 requires more power. So, when the
iPhone is connected to the USB port on the right hand side of the QWERTY
keyboard, the keyboard fails to work because too much power is being drawn.
This would also account for the fact that I was incessantly hearing the beep
that you hear when a phone begins charging. Again, too much power being drawn.
I have now connected the iPhone to one of the USB ports on the back of the Mac
mini. I have also still removed my USB Skype camera during this process. All
seems to be behaving as it always has. Perhaps, I didn’t have to upgrade to
iOS 11. If I had thought to plug into the back instead of the KB, I probably
could have saved myself most of this exchange.

Thanks everyone.

Oh well,
Kevin
