Actually, yes, the Apple TV box does have an optical output. However, let me point out, that the optical output on the Apple TV is strictly for nothing but digital audio. No video whatsoever passes through the optical port. If you want to do the audio and the video through a single cable, you have to use HDMI. Your progress
