There's actually an OS dependent standard way of entering æøå on US
keyboard:

 *Windows (Alt Codes)*

   - *æ:* Hold Alt and type 0230 (or 0198 for Æ).
   - *ø:* Hold Alt and type 0248 (or 0216 for Ø).
   - *å:* Hold Alt and type 0229 (or 0197 for Å).
   - *Note: Requires a numeric keypad.*

*macOS (Option Key)*

   - *æ:* Option + '
   - *ø:* Option + o
   - *å:* Option + a
   - *For capitals, add the Shift key (e.g., Option + Shift + A = Å)*
