Not having .../Resources means you also don't have bind files, keyboard

and converting graphics. So the menu problem (aggravating as it is) is
just the tip of the iceberg. Not running LyX under Linux myself, I want
to make sure I didn't lead you down the garden path. The LyX binaries
are in /usr/local/lyx-1.5.2/bin, right? What directories do you have
under /usr/local/lyx-1.5.2? (Just in case the Linux directory layout is
different than what I'm used to under Windoze.)
I just completed a fresh install of 1.5.2, after removing my ~/.lyx directory, and running 'make uninstall' in the lyx-1.5.2 directory in /usr/local.
Re-compiling, and installing seemed to go fine with no obvious errors. The lyx
binaries get installed in /usr/local/bin/:
$ which lyx
/usr/local/bin/lyx
And here is the directory structure of /usr/local/lyx-1.5.2:

Like Paul, I don't know where things go on a Mac, but on Linux you'd
find the critical files in /usr/local/share/lyx. If that's not where
they are, you can re-install one more time and watch (or capture) the
output and see where things have been put. Try something like:
make install | tee /tmp/install.log
and then look through install.log.
Still, you shouldn't be seeing those sorts of errors, and we may need
Mac people to help us out here.
