Folks,

I'm in the US Army and I'd like to write documents in LyX. This won't be
a big surprise to you, but the army is a bit particular about the
formatting of her documents. There's a whole AR (Army Regulation) on it,
http://www.usapa.army.mil/pdffiles/r25_50.pdf. It's "Preparing and
Managing Correspondence", AR 25-20.

Anyway, the downside is I'm no great shakes at LaTeX. Is there a howto on
taking an existing template and modifying it somewhere? I'd be interested
in making the template, but I'm looking at the great unknown to start
with.

I can use MS word, but it a pain in the neck. Openoffice is physically
unable to format in the Army way. No joke -- I even have a bug (6464) on
it at sw.openoffice.org.

Any hints for a newbie?
