But it is LyX not lyx ( Note your examples are all xs not CHIs ) 
There is a Greek letter Xi (which is transliterated as x in words like
lynx) 
and is NOT the same as CHI (which is transliterated as X in words like
TeX
or as ch in words like technical or polychromatic)
