Look at the numbering both in LyX and the dvi/ps output.
The numbering *should* go 1,2,3 both in the references in the text, in the
references section and in the output.
But:
i) The numbers in the text go 1,2,2
ii) The numbers in the references go 1,2,3
iii) The numbers in the output go 1,3,3
This isn't what *I* expect to happen.
You can, of course, number these things by hand so that they do increment
properly but that negates the whole point of using the system and I wouldn't
want to do that with a paper using lots of references.
Logic would say: if I add a reference between 1 and 2:
i) 1 stays the same
ii) 2 gets added as "2" and I can then add this to the text as reference "2"
iii) the former reference 2 now becomes 3 in the references, and all further
references are incremented
iv) the incremented references both in the text and the output are
incremented also.
As the referencing doesn't always only use numbers it may be esoteric to
some, the problem appears to be the key numbers aren't handled properly when
new references are inserted.
So far, only (i) seems to apply across the board.
