xforms no, gtk maybe...
We really have to reconsider (again) the frontend issue.
- Why do we still have xforms? It won't survive the unicode patch anyway.
=> Let's remove it! Now!
- Has gtk ever worked reliably? (Estimated) answer: No.
- Do we have the man power to make the gtk frontend a true competitor
to the qt frontend? Answer: No.
- Would we have the man power to maintain the gtk frontend if it were
in a stable state? Still the answer is: No.
- What is left? qt3 and qt4. Anything else? No.
Conclusion: In the foreseeable future, only qt3 and qt4 will work
reliably. I think we have to take this fact into account, especially
when we evaluate Abdel's work (and ask him to fix all kinds of frontends
for which he is not responsible).
