Hello LyXers,

LyXWin uses the LaTeX-XFT fonts in TrueType (ttf) format to render math constructs. But these fonts are not correctly scaleable, e.g. the equal sign "=" disappears when using different zooms for the screen font.
Ekkehart Schlicht (schlicht-at-lmu.de) send me now a modified cmr10 font, where he mapped char 61 to char 123 (both are "=" signs). This fixes the scaling problem. But there are also problems with all kinds of arrows. Ekkehardt's font based on the ttf-fonts from the BakomaTeX-distribution:

When comparing the LaTeX-XFT-fonts with these you can see that the LaTeX-XFT fonts behave like bitmap fonts, only in ttf-format (cmr10 in size 12 looks very ugly). Whereas the fonts from Bakoma are fully scaleable.
I attached some screenshots to show the difference (old = XFT, new = Bakoma).

So we should better use the ttf's from Bakoma. There is only one problem - I'm not able to say if the license allows to use them for LyX. Bakomas license can be found here:

regards Uwe
