Maybe Richard Kinch's True Type Fonts on his 
http://www.truetex.com/ site should be considered:

  1) http://www.truetex.com/um.zip
  2) http://www.truetex.com/belleek.zip

These high quality fonts are in the public domain AFAIK.
The encoding is different from bakoma or the xft fonts
however.
