Well, it was just a question. It's not neccessary to do anything about it. A
simple locale to UTF8 conversion for sake of calling pango is all it needs, if
at all. I don't think the conversion will be a big performance leak. I even
think the newer GTK versions have to do that all the time when beeing called
with non UTf8 characters, though I might be mistaken here.
The function g_convert from the glib will do that (or the corresponding c++
equivalent... I just snooped around the gtk docs).
I believe the complete unicode transition will be a very big step, and can only
be done if a good number of developers really want it. I am new with lyx
development and I didn't produce anything really useful yet, I am just studying
and discussing the sources and the bugs I encounter...I hope to change that in
the future!!
