Specifically, he was of the opinion that Pango operated best at the paragraph level, whereas we want more control. Maybe he's wrong, but I'm sure that he'd value some input from you. Why not contact him privately (I don't think that he reads this list). That way, he'll be able to explain to you why he's done what he's done and you'll be better placed to fix what's wrong.
