Globally on what?  colour/grey or mono?
Then override this locally to display an image as something different?
Is this really that useful?  apart from selecting grey as global
default and switching to colour locally for a time to see what it
actually looks like but then revert to global default so the colours
aren't distracting I can't see much use for that approach :P

Doesn't worry me.  I was more interested in pointing out to JMarc that
he and Rob have opposite usage and hence much different needs from the
dialog.  As you point out indirectly, we satisfy everyones usage needs
with the current XForms dialog and can't cut out any of the settings.
