Yes, but at least we know how to do it since it's not. Would be nice to be able to save a default template (the function /templates/defaults.lyx serves) within LyX. Not that big of a deal -- we can still do it in LyX. Just don't know why they took out the automatic saving of a complete template as a default for when desired. jf
