It's always possible to bypass sandboxing by granting the appropriate permissions, although proper implementation might require a bit more work. It's not impossible or overly difficult, but I also don't think it's consistent with the idea of keeping everything within sandboxed environments. LyX can use the development SDK and its extensions if they prove useful.
As suggested, I incorporated the tools I was told were necessary and added information about the package's limitations. I believe the verification process is important because it assures the user that the software they install comes from a trusted source.
