I see. I'm not sure how to proceed on this. I propose a hypothetical that might help: Suppose that I ask on lyx-users and the results show that most people on lyx-users who use synctex prefer to have a way to enable it globally (i.e., in preferences). Would we then consider to add a preference if a proposal for an interface is intuitive? If not, then it seems there's point in asking on lyx-users in the first place. I don't have a strong opinion on this. Enrico's approach of manually adding it to the converter commands is not a difficult workaround for users to implement. I feel we can make a smoother experience for users, but if others disagree I'm fine to drop this. Scott
