I do not propose yet a specific interface for the preference yet. What I'm curious about is whether most users would like for a simple way to enable synctex globally in their converters. I can work on proposals for a specific interface if there is interest, but generally it takes me a while to think about interfaces so first I like to just check in and see if there is potential interest in going in this direction. Without thinking much, I think a checkbox might be the easiest to turn on/off. I don't yet know what to call the checkbox or where to put it. Of course, I understand that if someone gives a "+1" to the general idea it does not mean that my follow-up proposals of specific interfaces would be accepted. I accept that possibility. Perhaps there is no good achievable interface currently and we would have to wait until we reorganize the coverter/file format dialogs (I think JMarc has also suggested in the past a reorganization would be nice). Forward and reverse search are features of LyX/LaTeX that I've had multiple instances where I've shown them to long-time LyX users who respond "wow, we can do that?". I really don't know much about the features and have only used them on and off myself but it would be nice to make them a touch more user friendly. For example, I did not know that these could be enabled by adding options to the converters before Enrico mentioned it. Scott
