Instead, the installer will now issue the following warning at the
beginning:
Due to changes in MiKTeX, installation of versions of LyX later than
2.2.3 can cause a partial update that makes MiKTeX unusable.
If you have not already done so, we recommand that you update MiKTeX to
the latest version prior to installing a new version of LyX.
You may now either proceed with the installation or cancel it so you can
update MiKTeX.
And, then, of course, the user has the usual options of "Next" or
"Cancel" (or "Back", which is kind of useless in this case).
I think I should try to get this translated, but I am not sure how to do
that, since this does not seem to be in our usual 'stream'. Should I
just send a message to the translators asking them to send me a version
of this? There is also the string:
WARNING: MiKTeX Changes
that is the title of this dialog.
I had the French translations for the Win installer in this file:
https://www.lyx.org/trac/browser/lyxsvn/lyx-devel/trunk/development/Win32/packaging/installer/lang/french.nsh?rev=38992
which has not changed in the last 7 years.
If you use a new .nsh file in lyxgit, I can translate there, or I can
simply send you a translation by mail.
Are your two messages the final ones ?
Yes, those are final, and it's fine to make the changes in that file.
Stupid of me, I made a search for .nsh files in trac, and it retrieved this old
svn version of french.nsh. The file is currently here in git:
https://www.lyx.org/trac/browser/lyxgit/development/Win32/packaging/installer/lang?order=name
and it is now 7 months old... and I can change it all right.
However english.nsh does not seem to have been changed recently. Where did you
put your new messages? I do not find them in any of the files under 'development'.
