Have you have downgraded your LyX from e.g. 1.6.8 back to 1.6.3? That
doesn't make sense to me.
Have you never worked on the same document on several machines? I use
3 personnally.
There is also the question of people working collaboratively. Some
people might not upgrade LyX right away for specific reasons. Even I
didn't upgrade my main working copy for a while as my last book was
getting close to being finished. I didn't want to risk anything at all.
