This should be less of an issue with on-the-fly spell checking.

But have you tried adding the words to the personal dictionary? Also,
unless I'm mistaken, in the examples you gave if you put imdb in lower
case it would still be identified as misspelled. If you put Hello it
won't be misspelled. So I'm not sure where the problem is?

Otherwise, have you tried  hunspell? (It doesn't work here on Xubuntu.)
