Hello Lyx people, There is an annoying behavior in my Lyx spell checking utility (for French language), I'd like to be able to change it or make a suggestion to developers. This spell checking utility doesn't ignore words beginning with an upper case, so all proper nouns are marked as incorrect.
Another problematic behavior is that it doesn't consider composed words (separated with an "-") as one. So the prepositions used in composed words are marked as incorrect (example : socio in socio-technique, etc). With other minor flaws, it makes that 9 on 10 "errors" detected by this utility are false positives, making spell checking inefficient, time-wasting and irritating. And obviously, it would be a great feature to have on-the-fly spell checking, highlighting incorrect words when written. I don't know exactly how does work the spell checking system and dictionary in Lyx, perhaps it is common for various software on my OS, if it is an independent piece of software please redirect me to the right project and people. ----- My configuration : I'm running Lyx 1.6.7 in Ubuntu 10.10. In the Lyx settings, the "enchant" dictionary is selected. ----- Except this problem, Lyx is an outstanding software for writing academic papers and it has been a pleasure to write since I switched from my old WYSIWYG program, so thanks for that ! Sincerely yours, GL
