That *could* just work, as it could be a pain. The best thing to do is
to test a couple of SWP LaTeX exports and try to import them in LyX. I
once played with an SWP file and importing into LyX required manual
intervention, so expect this. Otherwise, LyX has some known issues
even with the LyX -> LaTeX -> LyX routine, which means that trouble
should be expected.
