you didnt get me right. i opposed to definitive killing of old icons for people
who get used to them and want to continue using them. in the begining i was
silent and prepared to 'fix' it locally for me, but seeing second developer
with the same problem is good indication that we will anger some set of
long-time users as well.

again i never said this. they might be better for newcomer or people from KDE,
etc.

so in some points i do agree with you:
- lyx 2.0 is good excuse to move further with icons.
- make only new default set mandatory to support for new icons
otherwise its going to be maintenance burden.

in other respects i disagree:
- there was already request in bugzilla to allow more themes.
you just WONTFIX it by claiming that oxygen is the right (TM) icon set.
only those few people who touch the thread showed that the right way
vary conbsiderably among us. for example even if miracle happens and
everybody agrees
that old ones are wrong then we have just another fight between libreoffice
and oxygen.

allowing more themes solves this. its like with linux distros. those
which appeal survive, those which do not fade away after some time.

- i dont see much harm to allow other sets. one more combobox in prefs...

my reasons are not useful for future designs and its not reasoning, but feeling.
i dont feel any disturbance with the current set so why to suffer from
reprogramming my mind maps for new toolbars.
