Your guess is wrong.
It's a very sophisticated script, in fact. How extensively it has been
tested, I do not know, but I've used it to build archives of stuff
myself and I am certain it is much more reliable than many of the other
converters we configure.
As I've said, I think a bundled format is also a good idea, but this is
a good solution for people who need such a thing now.
