No, I understand that too.
We have to set the color at different positions. Here at the page layout only the background color, in the text style dialog only the text color, for boxes only the background color, for greyed out notes, only the text color and so on.
So, where should I put the color of Greyed out notes ? In a new pane "Greyed out notes" ? Did you even consider a Colors pane where one can set all colors, just as in the Preferences dialog ?
Using a list for only one color is not a nice design and I don't know a program where this is done.
Duh... did you hear me say that ?

Hmm, one normally has in stead of the arrow icon a button with three dots. This is much more unintuitive.
The dots would mean that you can open a dialog specifying a color. Your arrow means "reset", which is not untuitive at all.
