In this particualr case, though, I think we need to do something quickly. Without the bindings, LyX is currently unusable for us keystroke junkies whow write math . . . I'm forced to use the older version fromm debian, wiht the incompatible tables . . . I'd label restoration of keybindings as a "must" before release. --
