I'm not happy about this. Your patch is the step in the right direction, so I'm not against your patch, but as you could see from my fixes the last weeks, the babel handling is very tricky. So every change of the code infrastructure could introduce a bug. Therefore it would have been better when this change was made for LyX 1.7.
To avoid any new bug, we are currently in bug-fixing-only mode. For any new feature or optimization, 2 other developers have to give their OK.
