However, it comes pretty late in the 1.6 cycle. I think we should really think about stopping to put in new features (if only little ones such as outliner extensions) before even daring to think about releasing 1.6.0.

It's not my decision, but I'd rather see a complete feature freeze some time before the 1.6.0 release.

if we have working patch for 1.6 we can at least put it in 1.7 trunk or may be
backport it later to 1.6.x.
Started to work at it, but I'll need the next week-end as well. Various
things changed. Dialog Controllers are not there anymore.

Most of that code just got incorporated into the GuiWhatever files---which themselves merged the old GuiWhateverDialog classes. So for the short term you can just move the controller code into the GuiSearchAdv file, and we can sort it out later. The main thing now is just to get something that works with the current trunk, I'd think.

However, a few parts of the patch are now replaced by standard LyX features.

If you can produce an up-to-date patch, then I'll be happy to keep it up-to-date, even put it in a branch, until it's in a form that can be committed. Abdel had some thoughts a while back, that he mentioned in the bug report.
