Actually, the LaTeX format is meant to be used as such a general format, if no specific PDFLaTeX format is defined for a template. However, there was a bug: the requirement tag was not recognized by the PDFLaTeX output flavor in such cases. This is now fixed. Please try again. The reported problems should be solved now. Jürgen
