No. Having a documentation that is kept up to date when the lazy
developers change something without touching the documentation is
good. Note also that people who use mac or emacs bindings will
appreciate to see the right bindings. A documentation that only says
"don't ask me where this thing is, search yourself" is not very useful.

where is texlive package manager? The users are not supposed to know
how to use these things. LaTeXConfig also points to some packages that
are not in common distribs and tells where to find them. But you are
not the main user for such a thing.

It may of course be that nobody sees the use of LaTeXConfig, in which
case it should be removed. But it should probably be expanded instead
to cover other things found by configure.py. The interest wrt prefs is
that it contains explanations for people who are not very LaTeX aware.
